Glasgow International Airport is Scotlands second busiest airport, and is located 8 miles west of Glasgow. The airport is a base for many of the UKs leading charter airlines. In the summer months, Glasgow is Scotlands busiest airport, with over one million passengers using the airport in July alone. However during the winter months the airport is much queiter due to the seasonal drop in charter traffic. Glasgow International was the traditional home of long haul flights to Scotland, and until 2004 was the only airport in Scotland with scheduled long-haul passenger flights. However since then a number of airlines have started serving Edinburgh as well as Glasgow. Glasgow is still served by a number of US airlines, including Continental and US Airways, as well as middle-eastern carrier Emirates. Scheduled Routes
