Well, who has been watching Channel4's Lost?

Ive been watching and so far it looks good, although why theres a polar bear on a tropical island is anyones guess!

Quite a few ppl are complaining about the shear number of adverts in the program, but i guess they need to, it cost £5m or something to make the first two episodes, gotta get the money back somehow!

Anyway, discuss below, and plz, dont post any spoilers!

Saw the first episode, wasn't bowled over, I have to say.

I might actually wait until it comes out on DVD and then give it another shot. I'm one of those people who find it difficult to commit to watching a regular TV series, so if I think it's worth it I'll often buy the DVD of the whole series after its been broadcast.

That's what I did with 24. I've just purchased Season Four on DVD, having avoided it when it was screening recently on Sky.

That's episode one of Season two just arrived for tonight's viewing pleasure. Yippee!

Other picks from the new season in the Land of the Free:

Rome (will be on BBC soon I think) - Caesar, Marc Antony and aw go radge
Prison Break - despite some duff acting, is very compelling
Over There - amazing series set in the current Iraq war

plus old favourites:

The Office, second season (on BBC3 soon)
Simpsons - season 17
Season six of the Sopranos starts in January

I have to confess, I went on a bit of a DVD shopping spree at the HMV on Yonge Street when I was over in Toronto a few weeks' ago. Saved a fortune, though, compared to the UK prices!

I caved in and purchased the first season of Lost, which I gather isn't out yet in the UK? Not watched any of it yet, but planning to sit down soon and give it a try.

Also purchased the first season of House MD, starring Hugh Laurie. Brilliant series, not your typical medical drama. Laurie is magnificent. It's kind of like a CSI-style medical drama with some cracking dialogue thrown in. I can heartily recommend it. Again, not sure whether this is out yet in the UK.

Also purchased Season Four of Six Feet Under, which is a brilliant series. I think this is out in the UK too. The characters drive you mad, you just want to give them a smack, but it's strangely compelling viewing.

OK, seems I was very hasty about Lost. Just finished watching Season One on DVD .... and brilliant it was too. Looking forward to Season Two, though as ever I'll wait till it's out on DVD before immersing myself in it.

Another series I can heartily recommend is Hustle, starring amongst others Robert Vaughn. Very entertaining, well written, engaging characters. About a team of London-based con-artists pulling off elaborates "scores", but it's not about glamourising criminality - they have a strict ethics system whereby they "cannot cheat an honest man". Well worth a look if you haven't seen it.

welcome to the fold, Callum. I believe that young nighthawk is bang up to date on the second series as well, so avoid us at the next do, lest we blab what's doon the hatch.....

Ah ok, with the dramatic ending that we still dont know the answer to? How did they manage to fit a whole episode in and still not tell us what happened! Grr!

just saw an ad for Over There - it's starting on Sky One on 17/1. Also, Prison Break is starting on Channel 5, on "Mondays", so might even be tomorrow. Both worth a look.

So why are you telling us that in the "Lost" thread? tongue.gif

Getting back On Topic: I see those blasted americans are on a break again, no lost last wednesday. How the hell do they expect people to watch the series when they keep stopping and starting

Must be a nightmare keeping track of schedules...
bill
because it is now the US TV thread, that's why.

And this may be of some use to you.

*bookmarked* Superb.

What other series are others watching at the moment? Im just waiting for the latest episode of Prison Break to come on five, its quite good.

Ive been watching Invasion on a sunday, but im not really hooked on it, its a little boring. If it wasnt for that hot young chick I would probably stop watching...

The Apprentice with Sir Alan is unmissable, I might get hold of some of the american series.

As for supranos, ive never really got into that....

  Wash your mouth out! I've shunned people for less.

Prison Break is ace, hammy as feck, but very tense. I watched the Apprentice for the firt time this season, it's great. Also, the programme on after it, The Armstrongs, is worth catching as well.

Just watched the first episode of something called The Unit (CBS, Tuesdays) - a kind of delta Force thing; mad as a sack of badgers but quite entertaining.

Anyone got the Lost series 1, part 2 boxset?

<checks other threads> I could exchange for a set of Christopher Brookmyre books (them all I think), and then back again? Or?

L//
bill
got them on .avi if that is any use.
bill
Settling in to The Unit, it's quite good, Delta Force kind of thingy, shouty shouty bang bang.

Another one is a half hour comedy series called The Loop. It's about a 24 year old airline exec, who, when not dreaming up ideas for new low costers, or taking on Virgin on the Hong Kong route, is oot drinking pints and shagging the burdz and that. A bit like a GKirk documentary, then (on a holodeck).
bill
Does anyone still bother with Lost? I quite like it, more for joining the pieces together rather than any expectation that there are any answers to it all....

prison Break is coming to the end of the second series and is still quite exciting

the last set of episodes of the Sopranos starts in a few weeks - as one reviewer said recently - it's the only reason to own a telly

New stuff I've enjoyed this season - Heroes, Jericho, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, The Tudors, The Riches, Dirt, The Black Donnellys, The Wedding Bells; anyone picked up on any of these? Not having (sinfully) watched a single episode of the West Wing, Studio 60 became my favourite show of the year - sadly it appears to have been cancelled, so I did the only decent thing and am now half way through season 1 of the WW, with another 6 series tucked safely away.

I dont bother with lost anymore. I saw the first few episodes of series 3, but then they went on their christmas break, and I havent seen it since. I dont have sky, and our broadband has a 2gb monthly limit, so I cant watch it anymore.

I might get the DVD when it comes out, but to be honest im not all that bothered about it anymore...

I picked up Season 2 of Lost on DVD back in September when I was in the States, but still haven't got around to watching it ... not a good sign, I guess icon_neutral.gif

Agree with you on Prison Break, which I've seen up to the end of Season 1. Great programme.

Wading my way through Boston Legal series 2 just now - brilliant show. James Spader and William Shatner are just fantastic!
bill
for those of you who haven't watched the Sopranos:

1. Throw your telly out, because it isn't working
2. Watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tz_Ees_-kE4 6 seasons of the Sopranos in 7 minutes - genius
bill
and now it's all over. We've just watched the last ever episode. What an ending. icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif
