I am off to Paris on Friday.Do any of you guys know if there is a direct rail link from the airport to the city centre? And even how much it costs?

Yes there is a direct train, which if I remember runs between the airport and Gare du Nord. But I could NOT recommend it. Last time Ann and I travelled on it from Gare du Nord the ticket sellers were on strike so the only way to buy a ticket for the train was from a coin machine. I had to go to a bank to get more change for the machine. Then I had to put down the luggage to get the coins into the machine. As I did so an arab grabbed one of the cases and ran off into the crowd. I then had to report the matter to the station police, so that I could claim on the travel insurance. We eventually got onto the platform only to find the train was cancelled and had a half hour wait for the next one which then stopped en route at signals for around 20 minutes. Fortunately we had set off for the airpprt about four hours early or we would have missed our flight. Though the airport buses in Paris aren't much better - I recall being stuck in traffic on a bus to Le Bourget in the 1970's and arriving after the check-in had closed and having to pay a bribe to the check-in clerk to get on the flight.

Bad news about your train journey cessna
I had the misfortune of a 5 hour stopover at CDG a few years back and thought it was an absolute $#it#ole of an airport. The staff were rude and tried to rip us off thinking we didn't understand their money. There was a constant fear of sitting your bags down even for a moment as most of the people hanging about looked decidedly dodgy. The place was also manky.
If I remember correctly there was a train that went into Paris though we thought we were just too neat on time to make the trip in and back.
Lucky white heather.......I hope you enjoy your trip Orbit.
On a more positive note..... I flew into Paris two years ago and had no problems what so ever.
I was only ripped off in the expensive restaurants.........enjoy your trip you lucky person..... 8)

Line B goes from CDG to the city centre. Cost is €8. As towser mentioned, it would be handy to have change for the machines, as the queues at the ticket office can be enormous. However, if you are going to be in Paris for more than a day, it is worth queuing up to buy a Paris pass - this is about €20 for 3 days (different values available) and gives unlimited public transport.
Like some of the other posters in this thread, I hope you have better luck at CDG than I do - it is the only airport when I consistently have trouble missing flights.
