Just noticed this item in the Evening Times, wonder if anyone else has the same kind of problems with the aircraft noise?? I stay in Whitecrook and as far as I'm concerned, I hardly even notice any noise these days, compared to when I was younger and had the likes of Tridents, 707s, DC-8s etc coming in right over the house.

Any comments???

Wherever you are in the world anywhere near an approach is these moaners (most of which CHOSE to buy their house in the area, but, must have missed the jet going over every 3 minutes when the estate agent showed them the house!!!, and are very happy to pack their bucket and spade into the belly of a 737 to Spain!!). What the hell is the point of the idiot calling the airport when a plane goes over?? is he expecting someone on the other end to say "sorry about that i'll just turn the volume button down!!!"??
At the end of the day the answer must be a 2nd runway, and they can rotate runways like at LHR icon_mrgreen.gif icon_mrgreen.gif

It rather sounds as if they expect the new runway to share the same approach path as the existing. If so, then they'll be able to lay the new one on top of the existing - save on construction costs, additional ILS etc etc!

I'm a bit worried about the statement that the aircarft come in at five different angles. Does the guy mean three different glide path angles, or on five different headings. Perhaps the pilots are agueing on final approach as to where the runway is, but the bottom line is "we have to go over Whitecrook first, we can worry about where the runway is afterwards!"

I would have thought a second runway might actually have reduced the number of overflights of John Knox Street, thus alleviating the problem. I guess not, as all the pilots are going to be jinking off the localiser to to make sure they cross the VRP in John Knox Street.
