Project Propellor 2007 is scheduled to take place at Bruntingthorpe airfield in Leicestershire on Saturday 30th June. This is a get together for ex-WWII pilots and aircrew, including bomb-aimers, gunners and flight engineers etc., who are flown to and from the event free of charge by today's private pilots as a way of saying thankyou for the freedom which they fought for.
Apart from the sheer pleasure of being flown to and from the event, Peter Twiss has kindly agreed to be guest speaker, the BBMF will be flying both a Spitfire and the Lancaster over the airfield, the two Bruntingthorpe-based Lightnings will carry out fast taxi runs, giant model aircraft will fly and during the afternoon 40 Tiger Moths will be dropping in following their attendance at the weekend Moth Rally.
It is anticipated some 100 aircraft will bring in 250-300 veteran aircrew.
There are a few spare seats still available for WWII veterans to fly in some of the aircraft planning to go from Carlisle Airport, Pa-28's, Cessna 172's etc. so if any of you know any ex WWII flight crew please pass on this message, and contact me if interested in attending.

Towser,
Do you know of any aircraft going from PIK? If you have any contacts that you could pass on details of I would be grateful. My father lives in Troon and flew a number of aircraft during WW2 latterly concentrating on Catalinas in the Med. He's 84 now but I'm sure I could persuade him to go to Bruntingthorpe if he could get a 'lift' there!

I don't know of any aircraft going from PIK, though DJ may be able to answer this, as his pal Radar who occasionally posts on this site flies Pa-28 G-BVNS. If your father registers with Project Propellor as wishing to attend they will match him with an aircraft to pick him up locally; i.e. if there is a PIK based aircraft going he will get a seat on it and if they can't find a PIK based aircraft to take him, somebody from Glenrothes, Cumbernauld, or maybe even Carlisle would be asked to go to PIK to collect him. I think there are more willing young pilots for this project than there are WWII veterans so he should have no trouble getting a flight if he wants to attend.
Registration can be made at
www.projectpropeller.co.ukTheir website is still showing the 2006 event, but will be updated within the next few days with details of the 2007 event.

Hi guys,
just been invited by a friend to join this worthy cause. If the weather is good then I'd be more than happy to take someone from Prestwick down and back in G-BVNS. Have booked the aircraft and will be registering with the Project.
Not sure how I get allocated passengers but no doubt will find out soon !!
Cheers

Now got my paperwork for this trip - collecting two Halifax crew, age 85 & 83, one a flight engineer and one a rear gunner at Liverpool to take them to Bruntingthorpe. Both the Pa-28's which I currently fly, G-VIVS and G-JLIN are being used by their owners to take war veterans from Carlisle direct to Bruntingthorpe, so I will be hiring a Pa-28 ex NCL. Planning to take a co-pilot at least as far as LPL. Routing will be NCL-LPL-Bruntingthorpe-LPL-NCL.
I have 2 pax from Solway Aviation Museum to take to Bruntingthorpe earlier in June in connection with Vulcan to the Sky project and will take an instructor along with me for that trip, probably CAX-Bruntingthorpe-LPL-CAX. A landing at Liverpool to top up on fuel will be a good rehearsal for going in there to uplift pax. Is everybody else sorted now?
Hoping for good weather on the day.

Hopefully collecting an 82 year old veteran from Teesside tomorrow ... and taking along DJ for shotgun and photo opportunities.
Just a shame the weather forecast looks abysmal and might lead to us not making it all the way or possibly even cancelling
Let's hope we can thread our way through !!

Weather not looking very promising. Chances of escaping the expected bad weather at NCL (pick up point for aircraft) plus LPL (pick up point for pax) plus Bruntingthorpe rather remote and being pressed today for an early decision by two Halifax crew, aged 85 & 83, who definitely want to get there on time tomorrow, I've wimped out of flying and now taking them by road.

Will need to set off around 04:30 but hope to meet you and David at Brunters. I'll be wearing my RAF tartan kilt, so should be easy for you to spot in the crowd.
