Whilst fleeing aboot the place I always ask for a window seat so that I can take pics of the take off and landing, I also just enjoy looking out the window just for the sake of it, much better than an in-flight movie if you ask me.
And on my trip to Berlin in November with easyJet from GLA I flew over this airfield about 25 minutes or so out of Schonefeld -





After a bit of Internet research I discovered it was an old Soviet air base in (the then) East Germany by the name of Wittstock, about 95 km's north-west of Berlin, and after a bit more research I came across this Website which IMO is a very interesting read -

It's not just about Wittstock but also about the Soviet retreat from East Germany and it seemed to be an Interesting time for the spotters and photographers from Western Europe who went into East Germany during that time.
