Thats very impressive, compared to my, Britton norman Islander, Vangaurd, 757, 767, MD80(very scary) sitting next to the engines, the previous week an MD80's engine had blown into the feusalage killing 1 person, and hopefully an addition in a few weeks time going to alicante, while i'm on that subject, should i give GSM a miss and go for easyjet or Jet 2?

I forgot I've been on a Bae 146 as well. That's 15.

The DC-8 was a nightmare DJ.

It was only my second flight.

First flight being GLA-Palma on a BA757. This was really exciting, I was about 12.

Return was on a DC-8, of something like Can Africa.

The flight was delayed 5 hours due to the cargo door not shutting properly. I remember looking out of the window on the way back just waiting on the door flying open and the plane dropping out of the sky. The AC was falling to bits inside as well and staff unable to speak English, it wasn't much fun.

I really like the 767, comfortable and spacious in Y.

Perhaps next year I'll try VS to MCO. Never having been on a 744 it really appeals.

My DC-8 flight was also the Canafrica DC8-61's
Thomsons Holidays hired them for the GLA-Spain flights around 1986.
Our take off to ALC was aborted whiltst powering down the runway. Headed back to the stand
and then witnessed a 'technician' battering lumps out of no.3 engine with a hammer to sort
the problem. An ex-JAL aircraft, safety cards and exit signs were all in Japanese.
The Spanish FA's couldn't speak english. They probably dug them out of
a local tapas bar for the summer.
Had to resort to old favourite 'Dos cerveza por favor' to get through the flight.
When taxying at ALC to head back to GLA, took off into a massive lightning
storm at 4am. We were sure we were gonna die.

I also chickened out of a cheap ride on an An-2.
After a tour around the maintenance facility, it wasn't for me.

Off to Kiev, flying KLM EDI-AMS-Kiev at 6am on Wednesday *urgh*. Taking a daytrip to Dnepropetrovsk so we can fly some old russian heaps of junk.

When are you off?

Stockholm looks great, I was only there for 2 days and didnt really do the touristy thing, but it looks an amazing place. Nightlife is crap, you wont get into any of the clubs unless your a local (and i know you really want to!). Theres a nice english bar in Stockholm that does Real Ales and the old british favourites if you get home sick, looking at a map it could be down "Birger Jarlsgaten" somewhere. We ended up in the TGI Fridays next door to it for most of the night, as it was aboutt he only place welcoming to foreigners!

Most of the bars and clubs are down the bottom end of that road in any case.

I'm at work just now so I don't have my flying log to look at. Anyway, here are some of my "flown in" types from memory.
No doubt a few will have been missed out so I'll have to go through my log of flights.

First flight ever was in the Dragon Rapide in 1974 on a pleasure flight from/to St Just. That plane is STILL flying today. G-AIYR.
First jet flight was a Trident from Glasgow to Heathrow in 75. From then till about 79 only a couple of flights then much more
frequent from then on. Many of the flights are freight flights, newspaper flights, positionals and generally "hitching a lift" flights.

Here's the list from the heid anyway.......

The Jetstar... I was taking some pics of this at GLA when the crew came past and joked "that'll cost you 10 dollars".
So when I was talking to them I asked where there were going. They said they were positioning to Edinburgh the
next morning and ... well... I was backshift so not starting work till 2. So I asked if I could fly through. No probs.

The Paris was Computaplane stock, being sold to the USA. Went up on a test flight to test the ferry tanks. A muck
around over Loch Lomond... including a wee loop).

The Mil24 was another hitch. Airshow at Prostejov, so because it is just a helo base and does not have a tarmac
runway they had a wee photo day along the road at Prerov. One of the things sitting was a Hind from Prostejov.
Hmmmm ... going to Prostejov..... so are we. So, me and my mate got a nice wee lift over.

Radar and Widmeister will be hard to beat, as will Bill's Concorde. My own list runs to about 50 types and includes several airliner types which are no longer flying. My biggest regret is not being able to afford to fly on Concorde until just too late - So far I have managed to visit the insides of 4 of the now grounded Concordes and have spent the equivalent of a Concorde fare on buying some Concorde bits which are currently stored in a box over at the museum and may eventually go on display.
This is my tally of types flown in:-

Some very nice classic types in your list Towser.

Comet, Britannia, Herald, Convairs...

I see Bristol 170, Twin Pioneer, L188 (Air Atlantique flights per chance ?)

The Carvair.... would this have been a BAF pleasure flight in the 70s ? A friend of mine used to go
on some of these pleasure flights. He did the Carvair. DC6 from LGW. Altair Caravelle and some more.
The hassle was getting from Scotland to wherever they were flying from down south. We are talking
mostly long surface slogs by train or bus at times as these were the days before the low cost airlines
proved how much we were being ripped off by the gluttons.

Concorde. I could kick myself sometimes icon_evil.gif I hummed and hawed when BAW brought out all those different packages before Concorde's retirement, Concorde to JFK, 747 return, or vice versa etc, I think the cheapest was around £1300 but I'm still kicking myself that I never booked one icon_cry.gif

Convairs...

I see Bristol 170, Twin Pioneer, L188 (Air Atlantique flights per chance ?)

The Carvair.... would this have been a BAF pleasure flight in the 70s ?

The Convair 440 was a twelve minute hop on SAS from Malmo to Copenhagen in 1971.
The Convair 580's were GLA-AMS and return in 1987 when a Norwegian operator was doing the service under contract to Air UK.
Bristol 170's from Renfrew to Isle of Man and back for summer holidays with parents in 1956, 1958 & 1959
Lockheed Electra SE-FGC Sterling Airways EDI-CPH in 1972.
The Carvair was one of those BAF day return fares - £6 return Southend to Ostend in 1969.
Yes the Twin Pioneer was an Air Atlantique pleasure flight - at PIK in 2005.
