Are there any airport bars that you find particularly enjoyable patronising?

My two favourites are Wolfgang Pucks in ORD T3 and the BA lounge at gate 5 in T1 at LHR.

I had a great few hours in Woflgang Pucks a few years back whilst flying GLA-ORD-LAS. The ORD-LAS leg was delayed a couple of hours and I had a great time sitting at the bar in Wolfgang Pucks on the Donald Revie watching the European heavies land on the adjacent runway.

Years ago I travelled up and down to LHR fairly frequently. I always arrived back at LHR early and had several pints of Carling with a great view af the runway action.

Anyonye else?

Cheers

I usually avoid alchohol at all costs when I'm flying but on a day trip to Dublin a couple of years ago which was basically a 'swally session' with my 2 best buddies we found the Guinness in the bar in the Departure Lounge most agreeable, and a good view of the apron to icon_cool.gif

Budaors airfield (west of Budapest) has a basic bar.
A large fridge with yummy local bottled beer ~ 500ml.
I had the equivalent of about £5 in Forints.

Purchased 6 ice cold bottles for the first round.
Got the equivalent of £4.40 in change. icon_eek.gif

Oh! ... perfect relief in +40C heat strolling around
An-2's and Kamov choppers.

Dublin for me as well, no surprises there, but I go for the Skyview Bar, which is before security. The Gate bar in pier B is also good.

Gusty's nomination of the domestic BA gates at LHR is a good one, topped by getting in to the Exec lounge - I usually head up the escalator in there and over to the big windows overlooking the runway. the BA lounge at MAN was also very well situated for a few (free) beers while watching the activity on the runways.

I was in Hannover airport last year and there was a rooftop viewing gallery with a closed beer stand; if that had been open it might have qualified.

Worst bar award goes to Stavanger; I can still recall the cold shock I got when I worked out what I had just paid for two pints icon_eek.gif
