TEN LAID-OFF AIRPORT STAFF GET JOBS BACK
08:50 - 06 October 2007
Airport staff who were laid off when BA Connect pulled out of Dalcross are to be offered jobs with a new company on the site.
Dalcross Handling is creating about 10 new jobs at the hub - the majority of which they hope will be filled by former British Airways employees returning to the site.
The withdrawal of BA Connect from the airport resulted in the loss of 28 jobs.
Now a number of those experienced staff have taken positions with Dalcross Handling - offering a high level of experience that Dalcross bosses hope will ensure a good level of service for passengers passing through Inverness Airport.
The company will be run in conjunction with existing business Dalcross Logisitics which handles air cargo for bmi, British Airways, Flybe and delivers lost baggage for Loganair.
Managing director David Hourston added that Eastern Airways has already committed to sourcing ground services from Dalcross Handling in the new year.
He said the company represented an opportunity for operators to choose their ground staff at Inverness, where Servisair has held a Monopoly since BA's departure, and added: "We want to provide a quality service to all of our customers, to try and get back to the way air travel used to be."
