Just announced on BBC News 24 - Ferrovial/BAA have won their appeal against selling off Gatwick, Stansted & either Glasgow or Edinburgh. Grounds of the appeal was that one of the determining body members was associated with Manchester Airport Group hence there was "an appearance of bias", the appeal was also based on the current market conditions which Ferrovial/BAA felt would not allow them to recoup their investment.

The appeal was "reluctantly" granted on the first grounds, even although there was no evidence of and actual bias, but the process had to be seen to be entirely transparent. The appeal was not upheld on the second point, i.e. the current market conditions are immaterial.

So we have the cloud of uncertainty over the future of Edinburgh, Stansted & Glasgow replaced with a bigger one.
