Full Version: Question on Teletext flight arrivals ?

Hi
Something which has bugged me for some time is why certain flights are very late in being shown with an arrival time . Was meeting a relative from Malaga today with Brittania , due 1435 , left house at 1420 with nothing showing on Ceefax but flight arrived 1432 . Who notifies Ceefax ? there was also no time given for the EXS ex Barcelona ( due 1430 , was early ) .

BTW , the Malaga flight was a 757 in old style geriatric woman livery , did not think there was any of these around .
Think this miht be the winter GLA based aircraft , did not have the camera .

I look after the BAA system that updates the screens in the terminal and ceefax/teletex and after reading your remarks I checked things out for you.

The flight had an estimated arrival time of 1420hrs but this did not populate the ceefax screens due to the outstation not providing whats known as a departure message. This departure message would update ceefax and allow the status of the flight to change from a "Pending"state to an "Airborne from previous" which is the activation message for our screens.

I hope this helps to explain what happened.
