As the founding mmber, I thought I'd lay down a few benefits to reaching this milestone.
In addition to the benefits enjoyed by those under the
Postcode Rule, the following priviliges are granted:
* use of the Greenways for personal travel to and from the airport
* use of the disabled car spots in the multistorey at EDI (only to be used when the parent and child ones are full though)
* free Franklin and Boston ham and cheese croissant. To be used as for sanding rough areas (cf Postcode Rule)
* "Always Available" window seat at Wetherspoons - simply announce yourself to the oik in
your seat, and Bill's your uncle!
* Taxiwayalpha cheque book and pen (caution, use of former may result in incarceration).

Now there's an incentive to post more often if ever I saw one
As I'm almost there myself, I trust my account is being prepared as we speak?!

Are you carrying anything for anybody else?
Did you pack your own cases?
Do you have sharp objects in your hand luggage?
...then, can this be followed by a big SMILE please?
You don't get many of them...

Hey, I just spent four nights at The Venetian in Vegas - it's marble floors or nothing, don't you know

Quite a nice hotel the Venetian, wonderful shopping centre in the ground floor, complete with canals! I stayed in the Luxor when I was there, nice enough, but would have been better to be more centrally located...

I stayed at the Luxor on the trip before - what a fantastic hotel!
Did you stay in the Pyramid section, Gav? I was up on about the 18th floor and got a fabulous view down into the middle of the pyramid! Those 'inclinators' (diagonal-moving lifts!) are something else.
The Venetian is pretty amazing too - largest 'standard' hotel room in Vegas, I think (?) - and it was indeed a vast room we got. The other half wanted to take the bathroom back with us.
Centre strip is probably the best location to stay - around about the Paris and Bellagio. Wherever you stay in Vegas, you can guarantee you will do a LOT of walking. We were quite foot-sore after just a four-night stay!

Na, I was in one of the tower blocks. We took the inclinator up to the very top floor of the pyramid, and had a look at the view from there. Not recommended if your scared ofheights, otherwise its a fantastic view, looking directly down onto the floor of the hotel... I believe its the largest indoor space anywhere in the world by volume?
I would certainly recommend staying central, then spending a day up one end of the strip then the other day down the other end. For us it was a long walk to the far end of the trip, by which time you were so tired you needed to take the bus back. Walking in the heat of the desert doesnt help either!

It was cool to chilly when I was there a few weeks ago ... in contrast to my previous trip in Aug/Sep last year when it was about 104F - the hotest temperature I have ever experienced
Only problem with those buses which buzz up and down the Strip is that they are often all packed out, and you're lucky to be able to squeeze in. There's a tourist 'trolley bus' which works its way down the Strip every 15 mins, calling into the various hotels but it can take an age and it too gets packed out. We bought day passes for the trolley bus one day but quickly realised it was waste of money as the trolleys were frequently so crowded out (even in November) that the driver was having to turn passengers away.
They have the odd monorail operating between some of the hotels but what they could really use in Vegas is some sort of metro/underground operating the length of the Strip and into Downtown. You'd think with the mega bucks these casinos are turning over they'd be able to get together with the city authorities to deliver this.

We were there in June/July, so temperatures would have been around the same... too hot for me! It was a strange experience sitting on the bus, every time the bus stopped and opened the door you got a blast of hot air, and were sitting there screaming at the driver to close the door. Quite the oposite to scotland! I think we used the bus once or twice and it was never busy...
With regards to the subway, i cant ever see that happening. The whole aim of the casinos is t try and keep you in there, building such a system wold encourage you to move around between the hotels, which is exacty what the casinos do not want! Most of the monorail systems run between hotels owned by the same group.

Yes, but something is required with more backbone/credibility than the discredited Postcode Rule, though .... :?:

Time for a new club as
Callum Johnstone has proudly broken through the
2000 post marker - tales of safety cards, railway matters, apologia for libdem transport policies and reasoned moderation of GKirk's excesses are evidently rich pastures
